You Can Now Rent A Swanky Private Island For Thanksgiving At Just $50 Per Person

Named Friendsgiving Island, this home is located off Marathon, Florida, and is a massive 5,000 sq. foot property with three bed and two baths.

Holidays this year aren't going to be anything like before, the pandemic has made sure of that. But, that doesn't mean you have to stay cooped up in your backyard with your group of friends, not at least after you hear about this unique offering available on Hotels.com. The accommodation-booking website is offering a group of six friends a glorious chance to stay on a private island the week before Thanksgiving i.e., between November 14 to November 21. Named Friendsgiving Island, this swanky home is located off the coast of Marathon, Florida, and allows the winning group to stay in a massive 5,000 sq. foot, three bed, two bath vacation home for just under $50 a night per person. Yes, you read that right!

The island also comes with some pretty interesting activities—including kayaks, paddleboards, a boat dock, and a helicopter launch pad—all of which can be used during the stay here. Amenities available here include free WiFi, a billiards table, a private pool, and a beach. Isn't that a sweet deal? Just in case you were wondering what the usual cost of a week-long stay here in normal circumstances, prepare to have your jaw drop. The Friendsgiving Island would typically cost a whopping $9,800 per week, but thanks to Hotels.com, a far cheaper deal is available exclusively for you to take advantage of this Thanksgiving season. With the offer, the getaway will cost just $2,000 flat—almost a quarter of the usual price. And, Hotels is doing all of this, why? Well, "because it's 2020 and you're worth it," the site said in a press release, according to Delish.

Again, $2,000 is no easy money in these times, but when you split the cost between six people, and over a week's time, your per-person expense comes down to around $286 for an entire week or just $47 per night. Now that's a deal you cannot refuse. Another aspect worth noting about the listing is that Hotels will be arranging for a personal chef who will cook the turkey to perfection "so you can eat, drink and be thankful without having to worry about who will cook the turkey", House Beautiful reports. Talking about the offer to Lonely Planet, Josh Belkin, VP global brand at Hotels.com, said: "We've been inspired by how people have adapted their travel plans throughout the pandemic, taking trips closer to home and staying at our vacation rental properties. Spending time with family and friends over the holidays may look a little different this year, which is why Hotels.com is letting you reserve an entire private island to keep those yearly traditions like Friendsgiving."

Lazing around the property isn't the only activity you can indulge in either as there are several other interesting spots you can visit that are only a few minutes away such as Sombrero Beach, which is a breezy 10-minute walk away from the island. If exploring nature is your ball game, the Crane Point History and Nature Museum has located just a 40-minute walk away. The Island Hoppers Aerial Adventures, which as the name suggests, is an adventure sports establishment that is four miles away from the private island.
