By now you must have heard of several kinds of clothing that are exclusively meant for pets. You can wrap your cat, dog, pig, hamster, rooster, and even parrot in a variety of ways these days, and some of them are really impressive. There are clothes that are designed for comfort and others for amusement, similar to our very own taste in fashion. A series of images have been trending on the internet where a chicken named Sparkle was found wearing plastic doll arms.
Sparkle is a White Leghorn chicken who received these 'chicken arms' as a gift in the mail. This innovative costume makes them look like a buff gym pal and they actually fit the birds well. Considering that chickens seldom make good use of their wings, it might actually be cool to see them wearing some muscular arms. Sparkle is from Hereford, Arizona and her owner got a package containing a letter from someone named "Uncle Brian". Her owner, who goes by the name of Shell Critter photographed all this and uploaded it onto her social media profile.
She went on to say that these things are called 'chicken arms' which are basically plastic doll arms that have been ripped off some older doll or material. The arms are then tied together using flexible metal wiring and lazily packaged using scotch tape and a paper print-out. It's quite a nifty little product made from simple material and it works wonders when you clad it on your pet chicken. Shell Critter, who is a proud owner of 52 pets, a real mini-zoo keeper, said that: “I have 52 Pets: 35 rescued birds—from a Macaw to Amazons to little Budgies. I also have 8 dogs, 9 cats, 2 goats, and a new house rooster named Apple—the Yellow Nape Amazon Parrot named him.”
Naturally, she was very intrigued by this design and the mail. Without further adieu, she went on to unpack the arms and put them on Sparkle. The photos she snapped afterward were pure comedy cold. The muscular arms, match the chicken's feather growth and the whole thing was given to Sparkle by a huge fan and a Facebook friend of Shell's. The Facebook post itself garnered almost 5k reactions with over 34k shares, later making rounds on Reddit. 'Uncle Brian' stated in the letter that he was sorry for sending in yet another prop but suggested that Sparkle try this on.“Sparkle’s a white leghorn that I got at 3 days old. She lived in the house and everyone got along as they do now with my new baby,” said Shell.
The photos that Shell took were posted on the popular group called We Heart Birds on Facebook. The story also went viral on Reddit with several users quickly making the post enter the "Hot" category. One of these posts ended up on the Photoshop battle subreddit, and though it was very short-lived, we at least got one photo of the bodybuilding chicken doing some weight lifting at the Olympics which was nothing short of hilarious.
The idea was a fantastic one so thank you 'Uncle Brian' whoever and wherever you are. We could really work on more costumes for chickens with different kinds of arms. Looking at their build, their large outer body mass makes it ideal to add certain extensions on their clothing and their feathers will also protect them from any discomfort. Thanks to Shell Critter, we got to see how Sparkle looked wearing these muscular arms!
