The wild animal gives her plenty of bear hugs and loves to join her when she goes fishing.
It may be an unlikely friendship, but nothing can come between Veronika Dichka and Archie the brown bear. For Veronika, the adorable bear is much more than a pet. She considers Archie as part of her family. And going by the way the big furry animal snuggles up beside her, it seems like he feels the same way, too.
Before Veronika and Archie became inseparable, the bear was kept at a safari park that later ran out of business about two years ago. Veronika swooped in and took Archie in because they were convinced that he could not be released into the wild.
"We rescued him from the safari park but can't release him into the wild as he has lived in captivity his whole life," Veronika said, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
While most people choose to have dogs or cats to be their trustee companions, Veronika picked a bear and gave Archie a home when he had nowhere else to go. The two of them do plenty together and have even been captured on either side of a boat, fishing together in a forest lake in Novosibirsk, Siberia.
Because Archie was born in captivity, he relies on human beings to survive and can count on Veronika to take care of him. Thanks to Veronika, the bear is so well fed that he does not even have to think about hibernating in the winter, according to Nature and Wildlife.
As Veronika lives in her native place of Novosibirsk, she works as a professional dancer and model. Her Instagram is filled with photos of herself and Archie, posing together and showing the world how tightly bonded they are.
While giving an interview, Veronika revealed that Archie spends every day with her and added that it was a fun treat for Archie to be a part of the interview.
"He loves it very much when I take him to new places, so this shooting was a pleasure for him!" Veronika said, as quoted by The Epoch Times.
Veronika is also a fishing enthusiast, and she can always count on Archie to tag along because he absolutely loves the water.
"Archie spends every day with us and is madly in love with water," said the bear's beloved pet parent, according to the Daily Mail.
Pointing out just how close they are, Veronika added "He sees me as a member of his family, we share food, [he] sleeps in my arms when afraid, and hides behind me."
Veronika has also posted videos of herself disco dancing with the other bear, referred to as Toptyzhka on YouTube.
"They brought him to me because they weren't able to look after him and didn't need him," Veronika was quoted saying in the Zenger video's description. "So I became his guardian. There are a few others who work with me, who are professionals, to make sure he's properly cared for."
