According to Country Living, these homes have a lot of high-tech medical extras and are made of pre-fabricated material. These pods can easily be compared to a 'nice hotel suite' or even a 'bungalow from the outside.' The pod comes with a space for a bed,  living room kitchenette and bathroom. There are also defibrillators, first aid supplies, railings lighted floorboards and a soft floor to cushion falls.  The pods have a dimension of 12 by 24 feet and also feature French doors. In addition, it can also accommodate hospital equipment and a wheelchair.

The homes come in three variants - Living ROO, Mothership, and the MedCottage Classic redesign -  states the company's website.  The first one has also been named as the 'Garage Pod' and "is designed for inside the garage. It comes in a kit so the homeowner can assemble inside a two-bay garage. The windows are HD monitors, framed as windows with a corresponding HD camera outside creating the illusion of seeing out." So far as the second one is concerned, the website notes, "Rehabilitation Pod is zoning soft. It’s designed on an RV platform and can be placed in ninety percent of the municipalities in the US. It can be leased at a much less cost. It will be outfitted for extended care or short term rehab."

Close proximity is so important when keeping family engaged in our life. This solution provides a beautiful dwelling close to the people we love."

It added, "Fundamental to family caregiving is proximity to the one needing care.  There is a connection between the number of visits and the physical distance from family.
