The show's official 30 anniversary celebration is happening in August this year. And we are excited!!
A sitcom that was religiously followed by many, Saved by the Bell has nearly completed 30 years of being first aired on television. Several cast members of the series decided to get together to celebrate this momentous occasion.
On Saturday, April 20, former co-stars Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley, Tiffani Thiessen, and Mark-Paul Gosselaar met for a nice dinner with their significant others, according to People. All of the stars have posted photos of their night on Instagram, with each caption highlighting the strong bonds of friendship they all share with each other.
Mario Lopez, who played A.C. Slater on the series, posted a picture of all them at the dinner table of a restaurant with the caption, "Friends forever...". The same photo was put up by Berkley and Theissen with the identical caption. While Gosselaar put up the picture with the caption, "This is what 30+ years of friendship looks like..."
The show kick-started Lopez's career as an actor and entertainer. The star also shared another post, with a video capturing all the stars on the dinner table. Looking into the camera, he playfully said, “Ok, fun dinner tonight with some old friends,” the camera swerved around the table with Lopez introducing all of them. “Here is Mrs. Lopez, Elizabeth, her husband Greg—who has the best wig ever—Catriona, Mark-Paul, there’s Brady, there’s Tiffany.”
In the video, Lopez went on to add, “We ate an obscene amount of food, an obscene amount of food. The Lopezs are walking home, coming back and getting the car—great group here… now its time to play credit card roulette for the bill.”
The iconic show was aired on NBC from 1989 to 1993. The storyline follows a group of high school friends(all played by the cast) and their principal (Dennis Haskins), in the backdrop of Bayside High School in Palisades, California. The show was primarily lighthearted with comedic situations but occasionally spoke of issues such as drug use, remarriage, death, women's rights, environmental issues among others.
According to Bustle, this isn't the first time the stars have reunited. In January 2019, Gosselaar joined Lopez on Extra, the Emmy® Award-winning entertainment news program which he has been hosting for 11 consecutive seasons. In 2015, Lopez, Berkley, Gosselaar, and Thiessen appeared in a Jimmy Fallon sketch. The cast reprised their roles Saved by the Bell roles for the sketch which paid homage to some of the show's most outstanding scenes.
Gosselaar played Zack Morris on Saved by the Bell but is also known for his role as Detective John Clark Jr. on NYPD Blue. Other than her role as Kelly Kapowski on the show, Theissen is also known for playing Valerie Malone on Fox's Beverly Hills, 90210. Berkeley is known for her role of Nomi Malone in Showgirls(1995). She has also played roles in televison series such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Melissa and Joey among others.
Social media is abuzz with reactions to this reunion picture.

Some are even wondering if a potential reboot was in the works, but it's possible the reunion dinner was more than a friendly get-together. Given how tight-knit the former co-stars are decades later, maybe one of them will be inspired to put the series back on television.
