Rebel Wilson Comes Out, Introduces Her Girlfriend: "Love Is Love"

The "Senior Year" actor, Rebel Wilson has announced that she is in a relationship with Ramona Agruma, a woman. Celebrities and friends lauded the actor after she came out on Instagram, posting a happy picture alongside her girlfriend. She wrote, "I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince… but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess" and further added the hashtag "#loveislove" and a rainbow and heart emoji. The Sydney Morning Herald was accused of threatening to out the actor after the newspaper's relationship and columnist Andrew Hornery sent her a mail giving Wilson a two-day deadline to respond to his plans to write about her relationship with Agruma in a column. Faced with the threat of being outed, Wilson came out on Instagram. The Sydney Morning Herald withdrew the column and apologized to Wilson after facing a severe backlash, reported The Guardian.

Last month, Wilson told PEOPLE about being set up with her new partner "through a friend," though she didn't reveal the identity of her love interest at the time. "We spoke on the phone for weeks before meeting. And that was a really good way to get to know each other," she said. "It was a bit old-school in that sense — very romantic." The actor added that it felt great to be in a healthy relationship. "I think going through the process of finding more self-worth, I think that what you want in a partner is elevated and so it's great to have someone who feels like an equal partner and be in a healthy relationship," added Wilson. "There were times — I'm not saying with all my exes, they're great — but there were some times that I was probably putting up with that I shouldn't have. So it feels different to be in a really healthy relationship."

Wilson has several photos with Agruma on her Instagram, but she had not disclosed that the pair were an item. Agruma attended the Oscars with the actress in March and they also took a ski trip together in April. Agruma founded a sustainable fashion company called Lemon Ve Limon in 2021. The line focuses on affordability and comfort. She also started luxury jewelry company DeLys in 2013, and is reportedly still the brand's creative director. She's also the brand ambassador for the luxury Turkish jewelry company "Bee Goddess." Both jewelry brands have been seen on celebrities like Hailee Steinfeld, Gwen Stefani, and Madonna. Wilson previously dated Jacob Busch, whose family founded the brewing company Anheuser-Busch. The pair broke up in February 2021 four months after going Instagram official. 

In an interview in November, the "Pitch Perfect" alum said she hit a pause on dating after enjoying a "Hot Girl Summer." Wilson said she "did date a few people over the summer and had a really nice time." She added at the time, "I'm currently single and looking for the right person. So we'll see." Wilson said her expectations of a relationship also evolved. "From every relationship, you learn stuff all about yourself and what you're looking for. I haven't quite met my match just yet, but here's hoping," she said.

The Sydney Morning Herald columnist Andrew Hornery apologized and admitted making mistakes after initially claiming that she had “gazumped” Hornery by revealing Ramona Agruma was her new partner. "My email was never intended to be a threat but to make it clear I was sufficiently confident with my information and to open a conversation," wrote Hornery. "It is not the Herald’s business to “out” people and that is not what we set out to do. But I understand why my email has been seen as a threat. The framing of it was a mistake."
