Pierce Brosnan has been with his second wife Keely for 21 years, after the tragic loss of his first wife Cassandra to ovarian cancer.
Pierce Brosnan celebrated his long-time romance with Keely Shaye Smith. He observed his 21st anniversary with Smith with a sweet throwback photo to the day he said, “I Do.”
Brosnan, 69, shared a picture of him and Smith, 58, from their wedding, along with a heartfelt message. “Happy Anniversary, my love Keely,” the GoldenEye star wrote on Aug. 5. “We danced that night and still dance the dance today. I could [do] it all again,” the actor captioned the image, reported FoxNews.
The couple's fans and famous friends were quick to offer their congratulations, with one writing: "Absolutely stunning photo such a beautiful couple. How lovely to have such a loving faithful handsome husband."
A second said: "Wishing you a wonderful anniversary!! So proud of you both, may your marriage continue to bring joy to us all." Chelsea Handler added: "Congratulations, you two! Way to set an example!"
Smith shared the same image on her own Instagram page, simply writing: "Happy Anniversary my love @piercebrosnanofficial."
Brosnan and Smith, an American journalist and television host, first met in 1994. “He was captivating,” she told PEOPLE in 2001. “Tall, dark, and handsome–everything that everybody would immediately be attracted to. He had this mischievous sparkle in his eyes. I thought, ‘Wow! Wow!'”
Shortly afterward, they had their first date when they “sat down under the stars, and he held my hand. There were fireworks going off over our heads, and Kenny Loggins was singing.”
The James Bond actor was equally smitten by Smith. He said, "Wherever I went in the world I missed her, and I’d send her tickets to come so we could be together. We just seemed to fit," he said.
The Irish-American actor shares two sons with Smith, Dylan, 25, and 21-year-old Paris. Brosnan was previously married to Australian actress Cassandra Harris and they had one son together, Sean. He has credited Keely with giving him strength after the losses of his first wife and daughter, both to ovarian cancer.
The family man, who has five children and three grandchildren, previously said of his situation, "I don’t look at the cup as half-full, believe me."
"He’s intelligent, captivating and his real beauty emanates from the soul. And, like a fine wine, he’s aging beautifully," Smith expressed about Brosnan. "I found a great woman in Keely Shaye. Not if I searched a million times over would I find one as good,” Brosnan acknowledged.
Their love is ultimate.
