People Are Now Using Lip Fillers To Get 'Devil Lips' In Bizarre Beauty Trend

It involves using fillers to shape one's lips into a wavy pattern which doctors have said is harmful.

There is a new beauty trend on the internet and honestly, we don't even know how to feel about this. It's called the "Wavy lips" and it has people using lip fillers to shape them into a "wavy" pattern. It is also called the "Octopus lips" or the "Devil lips." Use your imagination to figure out why it's named so. No one knows for sure how it started or why it even began in the first place but some reports claim the fad originated in Russia, thanks to a plastic surgeon named Emelian Braude. Many people are taking notice and putting up pictures with their own version of "wavy" lips. How does one achieve this look? Well, the procedure involves inserting filler in the outer lip to create a wave effect across both the lips.

There are many doubters out there who say this is not actually a trend and that most of the pictures that have been posted online are photoshopped. An Instagram account with the name fmc.aestheticsliverpool posted two photos one real and one photoshopped of the trend and wrote: So I’m getting a few tags with this new lip trend. It doesn’t exist .. it’s photoshop.. here’s one I’ve just done myself on a picture of a set of lips I’ve done .. next to the original 🤣🤣🤣 case closed, and tagged the post with the hashtags: #newliptrend #octopuslips #photoshopped #russianlips. There were those like Nila Holmes, a skin and beauty expert, who wrote that the trend was "wrong at all levels" and added that it looks "ridiculous."

She also said that one's lips could be damaged forever if people tried to copy the trend. She wrote: The clue is in the title really .. it is unnecessary disfigurement! ...Please don’t be naive and follow silly trends like this. You will not be able to reverse it easily and go back to your natural lips if at all. Your lip border will be distorted and it won’t wear off evenly so you will have frilly lips for years to come. There are 20 more reasons I can think of. No one should encourage clients or teach this to practitioners and enable them to disfigure someone elses face deliberately. It’s not make up you can’t wipe it off...I mean who would even be willing to try it? Was it founded by someone accidentally messing up someone’s lips? Is it just photoshop? I don’t understand where it even comes from? This is really one of the worst aesthetic/cosmetic examples I’ve ever seen 😳

Cosmetic doctors also agree and have also issued a warning about the trend. One doctor even called the shape of the lips "unnatural" and could do great harm to the lips if tried. Dr. Krystyna Wilczynski, a London based cosmetic dentist and facial aesthetician said, “You cannot change the anatomical shape of the lips like this. You can sharpen and contour by enhancing the vermillion border, but these ‘devil lips’ are unnatural. Filler injected inappropriately could end up in a blood vessel, causing blockages and leading to necrosis (death) of the tissue. The vessels are around the lips, so using filler inappropriately is what can cause this." She continues on to explain the damage you could cause if you tried to create this with fillers.

Back in 2017, there was a trend of the "wavy eyebrows" but this was tame compared to what people are trying to do with their lips now.
