Cruise's 'Top Gun: Maverick' is the highest-grossing movie of 2022.
Mickey Rourke is getting candid about how he feels about Tom Cruise as an actor. According to Variety, Cruise's latest film Top Gun: Maverick is the highest-grossing movie of 2022 and has raked in over $1.18 billion at the worldwide box office. The film is the biggest in Cruise's career but Rourke isn't impressed. Appearing on Piers Morgan Uncensored the Oscar-nominee slammed Cruise as “irrelevant.” “That doesn’t mean shit to me,” Rourke said about the movie's success. “[Tom Cruise has] been doing the same part for 35 effing years. I got no respect for that. I don’t care about money or power. I care about…when I watch Al Pacino or Christopher Walken working, or De Niro’s early work and Richard Harris and Ray Winstone, that’s the kind of actor I want to be like. A lot of guys that tried to stretch as actors.” When Morgan asked The Wrestler star if Tom Cruise is a good actor, the 69-year-old simply responded, “I think he’s irrelevant.”

Leah Remini is also reminding fans that Tom Cruise is a Scientologist after the film's success. The Kings of Queens star, 51, is a former Scientologist and a strong critic of the establishment. The 51-year-old took to Twitter recently to tell fans celebrating the film's success that the 59-year-old Mission Impossible star is still an active member of the Church. The actress posted a screenshot of her friend and fellow ex-Scientologist Claire Headley’s Facebook post that accused Cruise of “crimes against humanity.” Headley also slammed Cruise for promoting “a dangerous cult that destroyed my family too, the same cult that almost cost me my marriage and my life. So no, I will not watch the movie, nor will I ever support or approve of this scam of a man,” Hadley continued. “Trust me, Tom Cruise knows exactly who he is supporting and the abuses that organization perpetrates. I worked with him while I was there.” After sharing the post, Remini tweeted: Thank you to my friend @claireheadley for your courage. You have continued to speak out despite the non-stop attacks from Scientology. And as Claire says in her post below, Tom Cruise knows exactly what goes on in Scientology. Don’t let the movie star charm fool you.

The actress alleged that the actor was involved with abusive behavior within Scientology. "He is very aware of the abuses that go on in Scientology," Leah told The Daily Beast in 2018. "He's been part of it." “I think people think [Cruise is] an innocent victim in all of this. Most Scientologists are, and I can actually say this about most Scientologists because I was in it, so I know my own heart,” Remini explained. “They told me not to look at certain things, and the quote that they used would be ‘don’t forward an enemy line,’ which means you reading a magazine, or a book, or watching Going Clear is forwarding an ‘enemy line.’ There are even Facebook posts from Scientologists saying, ‘Don’t forward an enemy line. Don’t click on anything.’ So I know that Scientologists willfully don’t look at these things because the church is telling them that these are ‘enemy lines,’ and you don’t want to look at anything apostates have to say.” Where Tom is concerned, that is very different,” she revealed. “He is very aware of the abuses that go on in Scientology. He’s been part of it.”
