Men Can Now Buy Racy Lingerie For Themselves, Because Why Should Women Have All The Fun?

Male lingerie or 'mangerie' has surprisingly a lot of takers. The brainchild behind this - Brent Krause - says that most of his customer base is from the US, UK and western Europe.

When it comes to clothing and fashion, a woman has hundreds of thousands of options to choose from. That also includes lingerie. Women have categorized lingerie depending on their mood. That's how many options they have. But men? What about them? Have you ever thought about the choices they have? They don't really have a lot of options when it comes to clothing in the first place, let alone anything else. That, definitely, makes them feel left out, but not anymore. Apparently, there is a market for men that actually like wearing feminine-looking undergarments and there are companies that cater to their needs, according to Splinter News.

Brent Krause is the owner and lead designer of HommeMystere, a Brisbane-based online store. He developed the brand nearly five years ago, not because he saw a plausible market, but for his own personal needs and thought there might be others like him in search of lingerie. Krause is someone who likes and appreciates wearing lingerie with his wife, but couldn't find anything that looked or felt quite right for him. So he decided to make some on his own!

"There’s no variety in the men’s lingerie sold in department stores. It’s boxers and briefs, and if you’re really daring, maybe a thong! There’s no denying department stores sell good quality, functional underwear, and that’s fine for ninety percent of men. But not me," said Krause. Apparently, lingerie for men is also known as 'mangerie' and it gives men an opportunity to look and feel bold and sexy.

Surprisingly, it is not just in Australia that men really dig the mangerie. Krause claims that most of its customers come from the United States. Krause says the US makes up about 40 percent of its customer base, with Western Europe and the UK making up another 40 percent. They even send merchandise to Russia and Canada. He says,  "I don’t think the male bra industry is any larger in Japan than anywhere else. Certainly, our numbers show the USA and Europe to be about the same in terms of size with Japan quite a distance behind."

He continued, "In saying that, our wholesale sales are very strong into Japan, which suggests guys are buying our lingerie but prefer to buy from a local store that speaks the language." So who exactly are these men who buy mangerie? "While our research indicates many wives and girlfriends are comfortable ... we do receive correspondence from guys who explain to us that while they like their lingerie, their partners do not approve," Krause said.

He explained, "Some social media comments from women include suggestions that they would leave their partner if they discovered he wore lingerie. I think this says more about her than it does about him, but helps explain why some of our customers want some discretion." A survey further revealed that there's a big market among men for lacy bras, but there's surprisingly an even bigger market out there for beautifully tailored male undies.

There are plenty of satisfied customers, and this is what they had to say. A customer on the condition of anonymity responded to Splinter's survey, said, "I wear panties daily!" Another chimed in saying, “I wear lingerie daily, always panties, and a bra maybe three to four times a week. And nightly to bed." Yet another revealed, "No boxers left in my knicker drawer!” Krause said, "Choosing a department store brand of underwear each morning is a no-brainer. Choosing a style of Homme Mystere each morning is a little more fun."

"Busy day with meetings – let’s go with PinStripe. Feeling a bit toey – frill thong. Life’s too short for plain underwear!" he added.  This phenomenon is not new. It was also revealed some of the HM customers have been wearing female lingerie for years. "I wear a bra, panties, and pantyhose every day under my male clothes. I have not worn or owned a pair of men’s underwear for about 32 years," a customer candidly confessed.

Also, 90 percent of the men who responded to the survey were in a heterosexual relationship and most of them were over 40, married, and straight. A customer said that his wife has known about his love for mangerie since the day they met. "I was very open and honest with her and told her so that she could decide on her own if she wanted to have a relationship with me. We have been happily married for 13 years now, she has never once complained or felt ashamed of me, she loves me for 'who' I am not what I wear."
