Meghan McCain Explains Joe Biden's Real Character In Emotional Message, Says He's A Kind Man

McCain lauded former Vice President and 2020 Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden in a series of tweets praising his empathy.

Meghan McCain, the daughter of the late Senator John McCain (R-AZ) expressed her support for Joe Biden's character on social media and detailed a personal experience from her life. The late Senator McCain ran against and lost to the then-candidate and Senator Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election. Meghan, who is a political analyst and a co-host for The View, took to Twitter to share her support for the former vice president and upcoming presidential candidate Biden. According to PEOPLE, The View co-host wrote: “The day before my Dad passed I was so distraught I couldn't stop shaking and vomiting. NO ONE could calm me down, not my mom or my husband.”

“Joe called me to check-in, talked me through what it was going to happen soon, and then prayed with me," she continued. "It gave me the strength to keep on.” She wrote in another tweet: “I know who Joe is when the cameras aren't rolling. He didn't need to help me but did. His counsel didn't end when my father left me. He has been a beacon of light and hope for me and so many dealing with the grotesque primal pain of losing the person you love most in the world.” In a third tweet, Meghan wrote: “that is what real character in this seemingly totally bankrupt and broken world. I am a better person for knowing Joe."

Meghan has been quite vocal in her public support for Biden as the presidential candidate whilst expressing her outspoken disdain for Trump at the same time. It was speculated that even when her father was alive, he used to feud with Trump within the Republican Party. Now, Biden is the tentative Democratic nominee to contest against Trump in the upcoming November presidential election. Considering all that and more, there are no surprises to hear that Meghan recently hinted on Watch What Happens Live that she will vote for Biden in the 2020 election. "There's one man who has made pain in my life a living hell and another man who has literally shepherded me through the grief process," McCain said Wednesday night during the show.

“I keep telling everyone, ‘I promise you will know who I’m voting for,’ but it really shouldn’t take a rocket scientist to know there’s one man who has made the pain in my life a living hell and another man who has literally shepherded me through the grief process,” Meghan told host Andy Cohen, referencing the bad blood between her and the president and her family’s longstanding friendship with the Bidens. “This really shouldn’t be rocket science for people.”

On the show, she reportedly told the host that the Trumps "are always making my mom cry and I just think politics is personal." Cohen went on to acknowledge her support for Biden, noting that this runs deeper than their families' longtime friendship. “I think the character is really important at this moment,” she said, adding that the U.S. needs to elect “somebody who can tamp down fear and anger instead of making it worse.”

Adding more on Biden in the show, Meghan added: "I love him dearly,” she said, before sharing a story about her parents — Cindy and John — meeting and getting married in part because of the Joe and Jill Biden. “They’re old, old friends,” she said. “Again, he’s just been so integral in my life, especially since my dad got sick.” She also went on to say that she frequently talks to him and in fact had a long phone conversation with him just a few days ago.
