It looks like the Bundys may be headed back to television! Ed O'Neill, Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate, and Dave Faustino are reportedly all on board to reprise their roles as Al, Peggy, Kelly, and Bud Bundy for an animated revival of the classic '90s sitcom. Married…With Children ran from 1987 to 1997 on Fox and was created by Michael G. Moye and Ron Leavitt. The series, which is believed to be one of the longest-running live-action comedy shows on network television, consists of 259 episodes over 11 seasons.

Family Guy writer and executive producer Alex Carter is set to serve as showrunner on the project, which will be taken to potential buyers in the near future. Multiple networks and streamers have expressed "strong interest" in the project, according to Deadline. The original series currently streams on Hulu, Peacock, and Paramount Global’s Pluto TV. The show follows the Chicago lives of Al Bundy (O’Neill), a misogynistic women’s shoe salesman; his not-so-hardworking wife, Peggy (Sagal); and their kids, Kelly (Applegate) and Bud (Faustino). The project has been in the works for a while now, according to reports, during which all core four stars of the original reportedly have signed on. No other details are available at this point regarding the upcoming reboot.

Last year, Sagal recalled attending a parade during a promo tour with her TV husband O'Neill when she realized how popular the show was. She told Jimmy Kimmel, "I'll never forget Ed and I went on a promo tour and we went into some parade and there we are dressed as Peg and Al. It was wild." She explained, "We were waving and there were so many people there and we thought no one was going to really watch it because it was so irreverent and it was so not like anything else on TV. Which is why I thought I got the job, because I wasn't like anything else on TV. Yeah, it really took off." She added, "Of course, Fox played it three times a night right in a row. You couldn't miss it."

Fox, Hulu and Peacock are potential destinations for the series.
The actress, now 68 years old, also told ABC News, during the show's 30th anniversary, in 2017 that she did not think many people would tune into the sitcom at the start. "I remember reading the script and thinking, 'This is hysterically funny, but no one will watch it because it's just too outside the box. We'll get canceled immediately,'" she said. "It was on a network nobody had heard of."
