Kathy Griffin Marries Longtime Boyfriend In A Ceremony Officiated By Lily Tomlin On New Year's

Griffin wore a pearly white, short-sleeved gown for the ceremony while carrying a bouquet of red flowers and later revealed the sweet significance of her wedding dress.

While the world watched the ball drop on New Year's, Kathy Griffin was hearing wedding bells. The 59-year-old comedian tied the knot with her longtime boyfriend Randy Bick shortly after the clock struck twelve on Wednesday, marking the beginning of the year—and decade—with a brand new husband. Griffin shared the first 75 seconds of the nuptials—which according to the celeb "was just under 14 minutes"—on Twitter and Instagram yesterday, featuring the legendary Lily Tomlin officiating the ceremony while her wife Jane Wagner chatted away in the background.

"The entire ceremony was just under 14 minutes but I have to give you guys the uncut first 75 seconds. LOVE IT! We promised you atypical. We are in love and we cannot stop laughing. Thank you @LilyTomlin and Jane Wagner! #HappyNewYear," Griffin wrote on Twitter. In the clip, the 80-year-old Grace and Frankie star begins the ceremony saying, "We are gathered here today to celebrate the marriage of Randy Bick and Kathy Griffin. What was supposed to be a shallow, 'toot it and boot it' one-night stand has grown and flourished into something far more meaningful. They stayed together. Then they couldn’t stay away from one another."

Griffin wore a pearly white, short-sleeved gown for the ceremony while carrying a bouquet of red flowers and later revealed the sweet significance of her wedding dress. "This was our first formal date in September 2011! We are in the back of a limo provided by the one only @GloriaEstefan because her team arranged for me to surprise her as a back up “dancer” when she performed at the Alma awards! I asked Randy to pick out whichever one of my long dresses was his favorite for any reason. He picked out this dress and showed me this photo. Romance is hotttt again," she tweeted alongside a throwback photo of the couple in which she is seen wearing the same dress.

The star's surprise nuptials came just hours after the couple announced their engagement in a short New Year's Eve video. "Happy New Year! And, surprise! We’re getting married! Tonight! After midnight!" Griffin and Bick announce in unison in the video. "She said yes!" Bick excitedly adds while the comedian promising fans that the ceremony would be "very atypical” and "very fun." Speaking to PEOPLE in 2016, the My Life on the D-List star joked that she hadn't expected her relationship with the marketing executive to stand the test of time, saying, "Well you know I didn’t think it would last [because] he’s 18 years younger than I am!"

The couple first met at a food and wine festival in 2011 and Griffin jokingly admitted she'd initially expected it to be a one night stand. "Because I thought he was just a man-whore, if you will. So yeah, we’ve been together five years now, and we have a great time, and he’s very sweet and very mellow. He’s like a regular guy, you know, he’s like a real guy. He’s not like a Hollywood guy," she said at the time. Although Griffin and Bick briefly parted ways in November 2018, they got back together within months. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in 2019, she said, "We took a little break and we're back. And now, we just came to the decision that, we've really been through so much together. We've now been together for over eight years. Even though he's 19 years younger, we both turned to each other and realized, this is the longest relationship for both of us, you know? We should fight for it and make it work."
