First Lady Melania Trump Celebrates Her 50th Birthday And She Keeps Getting Better With Age

Born Melanija Knavs in Slovenia on April 26, 1970, the first lady has captured the attention of the world over the past three years.

First Lady Melania Trump rang in her 50th birthday at the White House this Sunday, and we're starting to think she's got access to a secret fountain of youth somewhere. Aside from having an impeccable sense of style—one that's left us coveting her wardrobe every time she makes a public appearance—the Trump matriarch's jaw-droppingly good looks remain as astounding as ever. Despite maintaining a famously private front since becoming the first lady, Melania has captured the attention of the world and the respect of her followers over the past three years.

Born Melanija Knavs in Slovenia on April 26, 1970, Melania is a noted polyglot. Although she's the only first lady in American history whose first language wasn't English, she has a firm grasp on an impressive array of languages including French, German, Italian, Serbian, and her native Slovenian aside from English. While her past as a fashion model has often been used to question her ability to fulfill her current position, Melania's resumé boasts of appearances in Sports Illustrated, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and GQ. Furthermore, the mother-of-one and the iconic Jaqueline Kennedy share a special bond as the only two practicing Catholics to hold the position of the first lady.

The first lady's chief of staff, Stephanie Grisham, revealed that Melania would be spending her birthday with her family at the White House. President Trump joined the band of well-wishers who shared birthday greetings for Melania yesterday, tweeting: Happy Birthday to Melania, our great First Lady! White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany also tweeted birthday greetings for the first lady, writing: Happy Birthday to @FLOTUS – America is so blessed to have you as our First Lady! Graciously thanking everyone for their wishes, Melania shared an uplifting message for the nation: Thank you to everyone for the wonderful birthday wishes. This year, my heart is with those who have missed their own celebrations of birthdays, holidays, & special occasions with their families, friends, & colleagues. I look forward to the day when we can all be together again!

According to TODAY, ahead of her special day, the first lady focused her attention on helping healthcare workers and children. She is said to have sent out care packages to hospitals in New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Florida, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Delaware, Nevada, and the District of Columbia. The packages reportedly included comforting items like blankets and caps, and other gifts for children, including pencils, stickers, backpacks, books, and games. A part of her campaign against online bullying, the gifts bore the "Be Best" emblem.

"The medical community has gone above and beyond to protect the health of the American People," the first lady recently said in a statement, explaining that the care packages were "just a small token of my appreciation for their courage and leadership in this time." Melania has previously expressed her appreciation for front line workers during the pandemic, tweeting: We salute essential workers in the health care industry who are fighting to save lives. We thank those who put themselves at risk to keep our grocery stores, pharmacies & gas stations open. Those who ensure that our power plants & factories are up & running.

As previously reported, the first lady was recently honored with the title "Women of Distinction" for the year 2020 by a university in Florida in recognition of her contributions to society. "In her role as First Lady, Mrs. Trump focuses her time on the many issues affecting children. An unwavering characteristic of the First Lady is her aptitude for showing love and compassion in all that she does," Palm Beach Atlantic University said in a statement. "Mrs. Trump has traveled across the country and internationally to highlight programs and people who are dedicated to helping children overcome these modern-day concerns." Here's wishing First Lady Melania Trump a very happy 50th birthday!
