WhistleOut has asked people in the US to apply for the job of a "Chief Adventure Officer."
We've all been cooped up at home for months due to lockdowns and fear of the pandemic. But now that vaccines are here and the situation is relatively in control (provided we still all act responsibly and follow government COVID-19 protocols), we can go out and explore again. The pandemic has been particularly depressing for those who prefer exploring the wild, climbing a hilltop, and swimming in the ocean than sitting at home. But now that things are looking better, there's a dream job waiting for this particular demographic. WhistleOut, the phone comparison website, will pay people $1000 to explore the outdoors! Not just that, they will even give you a brand new phone and will reimburse your travel expenses. All you'll need to do is go out to your favorite spots in the state and click away with your phone.
Adventure is calling! We’re looking to pay one of you $1,000 to get out and explore your state’s most scenic areas! Visit us below to apply! #WhistleOutside— WhistleOut (@WhistleOut) May 6, 2021

On the kind of people they are looking for, the company specified on their website: "We are primarily looking for the adventurous at heart—the type of person who’d rather be climbing a mountain than bingeing the latest Netflix hit (don’t worry, we won’t judge you if you still watch that show). You are a little more Indiana Jones and a lot less Scooby and Shaggy. If you are constantly clamoring for any excuse to get outdoors." The deal just keeps getting better. You'll even get to choose your own phone. "Choosing a smartphone priced up to $1,000. We’ll purchase it and send it to you," the company added. There's even a designation for the job and you'll be called the "Chief Adventure Officer" or CAO, and your responsibilities will include planning a trip to scenic spots of your choosing.
Chief Adventure Officer. Now that's a title I could get used to! 😊— Whoa, What a View! | Travel Blog (@WhoaWhataView) May 6, 2021
Other things a CAO will need to do are: "Taking captivating photos of your state’s natural beauty using your new phone. Sharing your pictures on social media and letting the world know how awesome your state is." The website added these outdoor spots do not have to be famous national parks or state parks. They're not just looking for pictures of a Yosemite National Park in California or the Great Smoky Mountains in North Carolina or Tennessee. It stated, "any scenic spot in your state will do." WhistleOut will reimburse travel expenses of up to $500. The money is also meant for other expenses like "food, park fees, and outdoor gear needed to complete the task! This way, they can make their adventuring as comfortable as possible," the company said in a statement to this publication.

If you're scared about the quality and the kind of pictures you'll have to take, we suggest you don't. The task does not involve National Geographic quality pictures of professional photographers. Just your normal clicks but those that are aesthetically pleasing of course. The company assured: "We are absolutely not looking for the next Ansel Adams. Professional photography skills are not required for this job. As long as you can snap a picture on a smartphone, we’re confident you can learn as you go!" Another important thing you'll have to do is subscribe to the company's YouTube channel for updates on the job.
