'Baby Lyssa,' said the couple kept the wedding a "secret" to they could enjoy it themselves before announcing it to the world.
Dog the Bounty Hunter's daughter 'Baby Lyssa' Chapman married her girlfriend Leiana Evensen in Hawaii, reported PEOPLE. Lyssa Chapman tied the knot with partner Leiana Evensen during a Hawaiian ceremony on June 3 after being together for more than five years. The couple announced the news on Instagram, writing alongside photos of the waterfront nuptials, "I'm so happy, blessed, filled with love and gratitude. I never thought I was worthy or capable of this kind of love."
Leiana said she and Lyssa kept the wedding "a secret" and chose to announce it only a few days later "to soak it all in and just enjoy each other." The couple shared adorable photos of the wedding. "We now have the rest of our lives to soak in the love," Leiana continued in a post. She also addressed her new wife, "Committed to growing love with you each and every day from this moment forward. I love you baby!!!"
The former reality star continued on, gushing over what it was like tying the knot in the Pacific Ocean in Hawaii. "With our feet in the water, we connected ourselves to the power and vastness of the ocean. We were hugged by the majestic Ko’olau mountain range, that will continue hugging us as we live and spend the rest of our lives together at Makaalamihi. There, with uncle David officiating, we stated our declarations of intent, said our vows, and began life together OFFICIALLY as wife, and wife. 👩🏼❤️💋👩🏽" she wrote. ”I am now a forever part of the Evensen ohana and I couldn’t be more proud. Thank you for loving me and my girls and accepting us into your family with open arms and hearts.💝”
The pair exchanged vows in a private ceremony with seven of their closest family members out of whom two were Lysaa's daughters Madalynn and Abbie. In the album, the couple was seen wearing white, with Lyssa in a maxi dress and her new wife wearing a white button-down top paired with shorts. They both also wore colorful flower crowns around their heads. Lyssa is the daughter of Dog and his third wife, Lyssa Rae Brittain, to whom he was married from 1982 to 1991.
Though Lyssa's father was unable to be present at the nuptials, she told PEOPLE: "He was, of course, on the phone with me all morning and during. We FaceTimed him a bunch. He was there in spirit and also electronically." She acknowledged that it was "really, really hard for him to come back to Hawaii" following the death of his fourth wife Beth Chapman.
Lyssa also confirmed that her Dad was supportive of her decision. "I think it's really hard for people who are Christian and do have that belief that marriage belongs to a man and a woman. But when your daughter falls in love with someone and you love that person, you can't just say you don't believe in it," she said, before adding, "He's never shown me anything other than support." The wedding was 'literally a dream day,' gushed Lyssa, expressing her joy that Leiana 'is my freaking WIFE !! I’m so happy, blessed, filled with love and gratitude.'
