The Maine coon is the largest domesticated cat breed. It has a distinctive physical appearance and valuable hunting skills. It is one of the oldest specifically native to the state of Maine, where it is the official state cat.

Needless to say, Maine coons are one of the more popular cat breeds around. Their fluffy and lustrous fur makes them just wanna be cuddled all the time. They are good-natured and gentle and thrive in families with children and other pets, even dogs.

Additionally, they are known to be very tolerant and can easily adapt to the needs of children. Maine Coon cats are not aggressive at all. In fact, they are known for being the most gentle and friendly cat breed of all.

There's even a theory that suggests that Maine coons originally came from Norweigian Forest cats and the modern relative is but a descendant of their Viking brother when the Norse first came to America many many centuries ago.

Regardless of the legitimacy of that theory, these long-haired feline beauties do possess many a distinct feature that separates them from other cats at first glance.

Just take at a look at their faces for instance, some of their expressions and textures almost feel like they have human souls inside them!

This cattery called Catsvill County recently shared photos of a brand new litter that was born there. Upon taking a closer look at the 5 little adorable grey kittens, it's almost bizarre to suggest that they didn't look like grumpy old men.

Main Coons have a regal and majestic look to them, and it's evident every time they strut around their vicinity. They can grow as much as 40 inches in length and come in 75 different color combinations... wow!

Their long, multilayered fur is very unique to them, and when you combine that with their large paws, you just know a winter creature when you see one! Yes, Main Coons are very well equipped to handle the cold months ahead without a problem.

Enjoy looking at these beauties, in all their photogenic glory!
