Man, 79, Takes Lessons To Do Wife's Hair & Make-Up Because She Could Not Do It Herself Anymore

The man said his wife had always "taken pride in" her appearance but her failing vision did not allow her to groom herself

People at a beauty and grooming college in Alberta, Canada were pleasantly surprised when an elderly gentleman walked in one fine day and made inquiries about enrolling. He was not a usual customer. But they, nevertheless, asked him to join them for an ongoing lesson. When they got to know why he was doing this, there was not a dry eye left in the vicinity. Delmar College of Hair and Esthetics director Carrie Hannah told SWNS, the 79-year-old wanted to learn how to style his "beautiful" wife's hair and also do her makeup. Her vision was gradually failing and she could no longer do these herself. His wife of 50-years had always "taken pride in" her appearance and looking after her appearance was "important to her."

Touched by the man's concern for his wife, the college got him a student and mannequin to teach him how to curl hair without burning his wife's skin. After he was done with this lesson, he asked them how to apply mascara, besides other things. "He also asked for tips on applying mascara because that task was hard for her also, so we gave him a makeup lesson too! He spent about an hour with us for lessons on curling iron sets and mascara application," said Hannah. The man even showed the college staff a picture of his wife. "He lovingly pulled pictures from his wallet, showing everyone his wife, and boasting about how beautiful she has always been and how talented she was with skill set of typing over 100 words a minute when she was working," Hannah said, who added his love for her "touched" everyone and left them "in tears."

Hannah added, "Her appearance has always been something she has taken pride in and it's important to her so therefore important to him. He is turning 80 in May, and I think he is also a very brave man for stepping into a hair college and asking for lessons on styling hair. I don't think too many men would do that." An apprentice stylist at the school, Britney, imparted the lessons to the man. She posted some images of that interaction on her Facebook page and wrote: This lovely gentleman came in today to learn how to curl his wife’s hair. His wife is unable to curl her own hair and often burns herself, so he stepped up to the plate and learned how to curl her hair. We had the pleasure of teaching him!

She added: We taught him how to do volume curls on short hair, how to protect her skin from being burned and we even taught him to put on her mascara. #relationshipgoals #beauty #love #delmarliferd #delmarcollege #reddeerhairstylist. The post went viral with over 145,000 likes and nearly 400,000 shares. The post also had thousands of comments commending the college and expressing their appreciation for the man. The college's Facebook page re-shared the images and stories: Well yesterday something really special happened in our school Hair Design By Britney had a truly authentic experience helping a gentleman learn how to use a curling iron so he could help his wife with her hair her vision is not good and she had been burning herself so he wanted to support her and learn how to curl her hair because its important to her.

They added: This gentleman warmed all of our hearts and was beautiful reminder that we need to keep positive and loving each other. Its the kinda good news we all need to read about. The original post has over 7 million views. The SWNS report further stated the couple visited the beauty school to thank everyone for their help. "They both also are impressed with his new professional skills and her hair is looking great!" Hannah said.
