4-Year-Old Rescue Dog Is Still Looking For A Family To Adopt Him After Nearly 2 Years In Shelter

Drools is a male pitbull/boxer mix and has been living at a Colorado shelter for 720 days and counting now.

Some animals are certainly luckier than others when it comes to finding a forever home to live the rest of their lives with a loving family. A 4-year-old rescue dog has been waiting for this for 2 years now since entering a shelter in Monte Vista, Colorado. Drools, a neutered male pitbull/boxer mix, has been residing at Conour Animal Shelter for 720 days and counting now. He has been eagerly waiting for someone to welcome him into their life, Relay for Rescue employee Kacey Widetich told local news station NewsChannel 13. Widetich went on to say that she has even begun staying at the shelter so that Drools would have some company until the rescue manages to find the perfect match for him.

We slept like this all night long. Drools is SUCH a lovebug and just need to find his perfect match. If you or someone...

"Not a lot of exposure because of [the shelter's] location," Widetich told the station about why finding the right pet parents for Drools is taking so long. "And because we're kind of particular about what kind of forever home he goes to. He does need to go to a home where he'll be the only pet, no other dogs or cats." The news channel went on to cite that Drools knows basic training and commands, is up to date on vaccinations and is really good with kids and adults alike despite his cautious nature.

Drools says "Good morning everybody. Have a great Monday and come adopt me. I'm an amazing snuggler."...

Aside from that, the canine is known to have moderate energy and activity levels. Drools love to snuggle and be petted and massaged by other people. It's really hard to imagine how he had to wait all this while to find a home really, he seems perfect. Drools loves to snuggle with his caretakers, enjoy a nice bath and a rub afterward, and basically engage in just about any fun activity you can think of. He loves to get his nails and fur done right and absolutely adores anyone who spends time with him. This is one loving family dog through and through and we are truly hoping he finds the best match for him soon.

Technically speaking, this mixed breed is actually called The Bullboxer Pit — a cross between the Boxer and American Pit Bull Terrier dog breeds. This breed is highly energetic and loves being out and about. They are an intelligent breed whose parents are both working dogs used in many different situations. Powerful, faithful, and energetic, these pups inherited some of the best traits from both of their parents. Bullboxer Pits are also sometimes called the Pixoter or American Bullboxer.

The Pitbull, despite its notoriety, is actually a very affectionate dog when trained right and well-socialized. They will lick and play with you if you offer them attention. They were, in fact, bred for both work and companionship, and due to their nature, they are also beginning to be used more and more as therapy dogs. Both the Boxer and Pitbull are also great with children, which makes them excellent family dogs. The Boxer is very patient and protective, while the Pitbull is solid, a people-pleaser, and highly trainable.

People on social media were going absolutely gaga over Drools, with many saying that they wished they could adopt him. That's definitely a good sign and some kind-hearted person or family is bound to pick him up soon. One user wrote on Facebook: "Awww.... wish I could get him but two dogs - both rescue dogs - is all I can handle right now. Hope he finds a good and caring home". Another added: "What a sweet face   Wish I had room for another dog. Hope you find your forever home soon, Drools!".
